We will review your medical history and all medications that you take. Medications and systemic conditions can affect your oral health. Recent studies have connected periodontal disease with many health concerns like cardiovascular disease. Our staff will do a blood pressure screening and check your pulse. X-rays will be taken to aid in diagnosing dental disease. Existing restorations (fillings, crowns, bridges, etc.) and missing teeth will be charted. Intraoral photographs will be taken and a thorough oral cancer screening will be performed. We will evaluate you jaw joints (TMJ) and occlusion. We will determine which kind of cleaning is needed since not all patients require the same type of cleaning to restore or maintain the health of their gums. We will diagnose any decay or failed restoration and provide you with a written estimate on all recommended treatment.
